MUHARRAQ overcame Manama, 94-83, in a thrilling final at the Khalifa Sports City Arena last night to clinch the 2022 Youth Basketball League title.
As is the case with every game between the two traditional rivals, the final turned out to be a gripping affair, with neither team willing to give an inch as the game started.
But Muharraq had gained the ascendancy with a 23-point lead at half-time with the scoreboard reading 59-36 in their favour.
Manama were clearly struggling to keep up but a 23-point deficit was always going to be hard to wipe out.
And so, it proved as the game entered its final few seconds with Muharraq leading by 11 points, at 94-83, and when the buzzer went off to signal the end of the match, the Muharraq players couldn’t contain their joy.
