An elderly woman's dream of visiting Mecca was shattered when she found the money saved for the pilgrimage was eaten by termites.
The woman, who lives in Malaysia, saved for her trip next year by giving massages in the countryside and saving monthly allowances from her children.
Her grandson sent half the notes to the Central Bank of Malaysia, while the other half was completely wrecked and unsalvageable.
Her family reported that none of them knew she was holding such a large amount of money in the house.
Her grandson, Khairul Azur, posted a picture of the ruined notes on Facebook saying that 'perhaps this was a sign that his grandmother was not fated to go to Mecca.'
