More than 3,000 US sailors and marines have arrived in Bahrain in a show of force amid tensions with Iran – with a mission to protect commercial ships transiting through the Strait of Hormuz.The personnel joined the Fifth Fleet area of operation following an announcement of their deployment by the US Department of Defence as part of a military build-up .
