Bahrain has stressed its keenness to further develop its partnership with Nato to contribute to enhancing regional and international security, Foreign Ministry under-secretary for political affairs and Supreme Defence Council secretary general Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa said yesterday.
He made the remarks during a meeting with Nato deputy secretary general Mircea Geoană.
The meeting came on the sidelines of the conference of the Italian Society of International Organisations, marking the 75th anniversary of the founding of Nato.
Dr Shaikh Abdulla noted the kingdom’s hosting of the Fifth Istanbul Co-operation Initiative Policy advisory group meeting last year.
The two sides reviewed developments in the situation in the Middle East region, and the prospects for strategic co-operation in light of the positive results achieved within the framework of the ‘Individual Partnership and Co-operation Programme’ over the past years.
