Manama: His Majesty King Hamad sent a cable last night to Iranian President Dr Hassan Rouhani welcoming the nuclear deal signed between Tehran and the P5+1 Group.
The King expressed hope that the agreement will contribute to consolidating security and stability in the region and further developing relations among countries based on principles of good neighbourliness, mutual respect and non-interference in internal affairs, with focus on achieving people’s hopes and aspirations for development, progress and prosperity.
His Majesty also congratulated President Rouhani on the advent of Eid Al Fitr.
The UAE also welcomed the deal, with an official saying it could turn a “new page” for the Gulf.
The deal will mean ‘a happy day’ if it stops Iran from gaining a nuclear arsenal, but the agreement would prove bad if it allowed Tehran to “wreak havoc in the region”, a Saudi official said.
