Riyadh: Saudi authorities thwarted two attempts to smuggle 3.5 million amphetamine pills and 2.9kg of heroin into the country.
The anti-trafficking operations were coordinated with counterpart agencies in other countries, said the Ministry of Interior.
Saudi and UAE anti-narcotic squads arrested two Syrians and one Sri Lankan as they were attempting to smuggle 3.5 million pills which were hidden among other goods in three containers.
In a separate operation, police caught a Pakistani truck driver trying to smuggle 2.9kg of heroin through the Salwa border entry.
