A multi-purpose women-only shopping mall will soon be open in Salalah, the capital city of Dhofar province in southern Oman.
"The concept of a ladies Mall will meet the desire of women for privacy and the conservative Omani society", said Chief Executive Officer Shaikh Ahmed bin Abdulla Al-Dhahab as he signed the construction contract.
The new shopping milestone, the first of its kind, will provide a useful platform for a wide range of activities under one roof.
Apart from shopping outlets, the multi-purpose mall will also feature bank branches, bill-payment kiosks, coffee shops, restaurants and other government services.
The management of the new women-only shopping mall has also allocated a corner for women to display and sell their self-made products.
The branch of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the governorate of Dhofar also signed an agreement with Leaders’ Shopping Mall, to launch a training programme as part of efforts to hone the skills of young female entrepreneurs.
