The move followed directives from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, and Saudi Crown Prince, First Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Prince Mohammed bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
The new service will be first implemented on a special lane during a three-month experimental phase.
The new procedure will then be implemented gradually on the causeway’s public lane at the end of the evaluative stage.
This was decided during the co-ordination meeting, held on Thursday at King Fahad Causeway General Organisation between officials from both countries.
The one-stop crossing aims to smooth the traffic of individuals and trucks through the causeway.
The meeting discussed steps that will be taken to implement the decision and its administration, security and technical aspects to be gradually implemented on the public lane after the end of the evaluation stage.
