AN agreement to host a major international conference on Islamic medicine has been signed in Bahrain.
The eighth conference of the International Society for the History of Islamic Medicine (ISHIM) will be held in Dubai in March next year.
The deal to hold the event was signed at the Home Healthcare Centre in Budaiya yesterday between ISHIM general secretary and treasurer Dr Faisal Al Naser and UAE-based exhibition and conference organisers Index Holding president Dr Abdulsalam Al Madani.
The biennial conference at the Dubai Exhibition Centre is expected to gather more than 300 people from across the globe who are concerned with the history of medicine.
ISHIM, set up in Doha, Qatar in 2002, is a group of physicians, scholars and historians working on Islamic medical heritage and its role in the development of modern medicine.
It has board members from all over the world and aims to preserve the history of medicine and create awareness of early inventions in the field.
