Muscat: A Royal Navy of Oman sailing ship has embarked on a friendship and peace voyage to Europe where it will compete in races.
Shabab Oman II set off on a six-month journey to Europe to take part in the tall ships races set to be held in the Baltic Sea.
The vessel is currently en route to Spain having left the port of Catania on the island of Sicily, Italy, reported Oman Daily.
The ship is expected to arrive in Spain on May 5.
A statement said the voyage aims to build bridges of friendship and peace with other nations around the world and promote Oman's tourism and culture.
Shabab Oman II vessel was launched in an official ceremony held in the Netherlands in May 2014, replacing its predecessor Shabab Oman I.
