Milan: Bahrain’s commitment to develop and implement policies and programmes that support farming community was highlighted as the Crown Prince yesterday visited Expo Milano 2015, in Italy.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister noted that kingdom has launched several initiatives, including the National Initiative for Agricultural Development and the King Hamad Prize for Agricultural Development, which introduced Bahraini farmers to the latest agricultural technologies through various training and development programmes.
He also emphasised the kingdom’s commitment towards investing in its natural resources to support sustainable economic development and benefit Bahrain’s future
generations.
Congratulating the organisers of Expo Milano 2015 for their remarkable achievement, the Crown Prince pointed out the pivotal role played by expo in promoting global interest amid challenges in sustainable food supply, energy and natural resources.
He asserted that the event has showcased the best of Milan and Italy to
the world.
The Crown Prince toured Bahrain’s 2,000-sq metre pavilion, accompanied by Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, World Expo 2015 commissioner Bruno Pasquino, Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) president Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa and a number of Italian and Bahraini officials.
Bahrain’s pavilion at the expo, commissioned by BACA, features 10 distinct gardens showcasing the kingdom’s
agrarian heritage and culture.
It also spotlights Bahrain’s historic archaeological artefacts that date back to the ancient civilisation
of Dilmun.
According to BACA, upon the conclusion of the expo the pavilion will be moved to Bahrain where it will be transformed into an attractive botanical garden.
