To commemorate 150th anniversary years of the Indian Railways a 100 rupee coin will be issued by the Indian government.
It is the first time Indian Railways has got the chance to be part of India's minting history according to senior official in a report in Times of India.
The 100 and the two rupee coin are both commemorative pieces and have been approved according to an Indian railways ministry official.
While the 100 rupee coin will be available as a collector’s item, a million two-rupee coins, with the Indian Railways mascot 'Bhoula' on the coins will be released simultaneously for circulation.
As the 100-rupee coin is a commemorative piece it will be in limited supply. Collectors can buy these coins once government issues the public advertisement.
