THE IMMAF World Championships, which will be held under the patronage of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, will introduce the first Golden Mouthguard Award at the medals ceremony in Bahrain to deserving competitor.
The amateur MMA world championships will be held at Khalifa Sports City Arena from November 12 to 18 as part of Brave International Combat Week.
The Safejawz Golden Mouthguard Award 2017 will be presented to the athlete who is voted as stand-out in his commitment to the sport and his embodiment of the good sporting values of amateur MMA.
National team leaders will have an opportunity to recommend one from their team prior to the championships.
Select representatives, including world renowned MMA referee, Marc Goddard, will review the recommendations to list 10 nominees that will be put to public vote during competition week.
The IMMAF president will make the final decision from the two competitors that win the public vote.
IMMAF World Championship is the world’s most prestigious amateur Mixed Martial Arts tournament, and 2017 will exceptionally mark the first time the event is conducted outside of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Bahrain will be the first Asian or Arab country to host an IMMAF World Championship, and the first country to host the event outside of the USA.
Brave 9: The Kingdom of Champions will feature 32 athletes representing 21 nations making it the biggest fight card in the history of Middle East.
Three championship titles will be featured in the premium fight card of Brave Combat Federation.
