Nigerian striker Uche Ogba scored a goal to lead Al Najma to a 1-0 victory over Al Shabab during the first leg’s 8th round of the Bahrain NBB Football First Division League played at Khalifa Sports City yesterday.

East Riffa scored their second victory of the season by defeating Al Hidd 2-1 at the same venue.

Meanwhile, Al Ahli claimed their first win by downing Ettihad 1-0 at Al Ahli Club Stadium.

East Riffa led the first half score, 1-0, through Sami Al Hussaini’s strike. Al Hidd equalised in the second half after Ahmed Bu Ghammar hit his target in the 58th minute. However, East Riffa surged ahead, and for good, after Mohammed Abdulla scored in the 83rd minute.

East Riffa now have 9 points from two wins, three draws and three defeats. Al Hidd remain with just 6 points from one win, three draws and three victories.

Ogba scored the only goal in the 68th minute to allow Al Najma to join leaders Muharraq on top of the table with 19 points. Al Shabab remain with 13 points.

Al Ahli, whose winning goal came from Ali Al Asfoor in the 45th minute, now have five points from two draws and five defeats, while Ettihad remain with four points.

In today’s matches, leaders Muharraq take on Riffa at 7.35pm at National Stadium, while Manama face defending champions Malkiya at 5.20pm at the same venue.
