Years ago before any Marvel Studios film was ever in development Marvel sold many of its popular character’s rights to big studios, this is where Sony got a hold of Spider-man, and Fox got The Fantastic Four and The X-Men.
In 2009 Walt Disney Bought Marvel Entertainment, which meant that Marvel Studios and its Marvel Cinematic Universe would belong to Disney.
In 2016 Marvel Studios struck a deal with Sony that would allow Spider-Man to enter its shared universe. The web slinger made his MCU debut in ‘Captain America: Civil War’ and had his own solo movie ‘Spider-Man Homecoming’ last July.
Now Walt Disney is trying to acquire Most of Twentieth Century Fox's Media Empire. If Disney are successful not only will they own a large part of Fox’s empire, they would also be able to take several Marvel characters back to their original home, including the X-Men, Deadpool, and Marvel’s first family the Fantastic Four.
Fans would finally be able to see a showdown or a team up between The Avengers and The X-Men. With all these characters under one roof the possibilities for new box office attractions are endless. Imagine seeing Hulk go toe to toe with Colossus, or a bromantic team up between Spider-Man and Deadpool.
