A 10-DAY workshop on architecture organised by Mawane, a non-profit organisation, concluded in Bahrain.
The workshop by the Winter Architect School (WAS) engaged 15 architects from the region and outside and was focused on architecture and urban collaboration in co-operation with Tamkeen.
The workshop aimed at exploring ideas of parametric design, digital design and fabrication.
The workshop at Bait Khalaf, Manama was conducted by UAE Amorphous Studio head and DNAT (Dubai Network for Art, Architecture, and Technology) founder Zayad Motlib and Middle East Architecture Laboratory director Riyad Joucka.
Traditional Bahraini Dhow was taken as an inspiration for the programme, covering its structure, materiality and function.
Professional architects including Anne Holtrop, Ammar Basheir, Noora Fraidoon and Lucia Gomez talked to participants, and professionals from Bahrain, including Thamer Sallahuddin, Khulood Akbari, Ahmed Taleb, Ahmed Aljowder and Ali Karimi were also part of the facilitators.
The school was also supported by Shaikh Ibrahim Center, Dadabhai Travels, American Institute of Architects Middle East chapter and the Royal Institute of British Architects Gulf chapter.
