Finance Minister Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa issued a decision on executive regulations pertaining to the selective excise tax.
Under the decision, diplomatic and consular bodies, international organisations and heads and members of diplomatic and consular missions accredited to Bahrain will be exempted from the selective excise duty, subject to treatment on equal footing based on lists of countries specified by the Foreign Ministry in this regard.
The selective goods will be used for personal or official purposes. Also, supporting documents will be produced proving that the goods are meant for an exempted recipient.
Passengers carrying selective goods for personal use shall also be exempted from the excise tax.
