Bahrain: The resounding success of Bahrain’s pavilion in Milan Expo 2015, recently held in Italy, was hailed by His Majesty King Hamad.
He said it reflected the kingdom’s millennia-old history and humanitarian and cultural heritage as he yesterday received at Al Safriya Palace Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) president Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa.
Bahrain won the silver medal for second best pavilion in the category of architecture, out of 150 countries which took part in the expo.
His Majesty congratulated the BACA president and hailed her dedicated efforts, along with the staff in charge of the pavilion, which ensured Bahrain’s landmark achievement that adds to a string of remarkable achievements.
He hailed the performance which, he said, proved the credentials of Bahrain’s architecture to compete alongside other countries.
The King also congratulated Shaikha Mai on choosing Muharraq city as Capital of Islamic Culture for 2018.
He underscored the importance of taking part in such high-profile exhibitions which, he said, provide a platform to build bridges of co-operation between states and peoples and promote Bahrain as a pioneering country which achieved economic, cultural and tourism strides.
Bahrain, he said, will always remain a beacon of tolerance, co-existence, amity and peace between all people, stressing its millennia-old civilisation and culture.
The King commended the dedicated efforts of Shaikha Mai to conserve Bahrain’s history and civilisation and develop its archaeological sites.
The BACA president thanked the King, hailing his directives and continuous support to culture and heritage.
She commended a string of landmark cultural achievements in the prosperous era of His Majesty.
She noted that Bahrain’s pavilion in Milan Expo 2015 attracted more than 2.2 million visitors, pointing out that the pavilion would be showcased in Bahrain.
