Riyadh: Turbulent weather conditions prompted officials to announce the closure of schools and universities in parts of Saudi Arabia as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students.

Riyadh Education director-general Hamad Al-Wahaibi gave directives to close schools on Sunday in all the governorates, based on the weather bulleting issued by the Presidency of Meteorology and the Environment, forecasting torrential weather.

Other parts of Saudi Arabia announced the closure of schools on Sunday, including the Eastern Province, Wadi Al-Dawaser, Al-Mahd, Al-Ahsa, The Medina and other regions.
