Manama: A Bahraini bomber has lost his final appeal against the death penalty.
Hussein Ebrahim Al Marzooq, aged 25, was found guilty of planting an explosive device that killed Bahraini school teacher Fakhriya Muslim Ahmed Hassan, 42, and injured her three children.
The US-manufactured, military-grade Claymore landmine was detonated on Shaikh Jaber Al Ahmed Al Sabah Highway, near Nuwaidrat, on June 30 in 2016 as the family was driving past in a car.
In November last year, the Supreme Criminal Appeals Court upheld Mr Al Marzooq's convictions for premeditated murder, conspiring with a foreign state, possessing explosives, causing a fatal explosion and putting motorists’ lives at risk.
He also had his nationality revoked. He then lodged a final appeal at the Cassation Court, which was kicked out today.
