Riyadh: The Saudi traffic authorities have today started implementing the ban on using mobile phones in the cities of Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam.
Surveillance cameras set up by the traffic authorities will also detect the drivers and front seat passengers who fail to fasten their seat belts.
Lawbreakers caught flouting new traffic regulations will be informed about their violations through short messages (SMS).
The General Directorate of Traffic urged drivers and passengers of cars and motorbikes to comply with the safety regulations and keep children at their special seats.
In a statement today, it announced zero-tolerance in implementing the new regulations and enforcing the law on violators to protect road users’ safety.
