Work is going on in full swing to complete the reconstruction of the Al Maktoum Stadium in Dubai.
The state-of-the-art facility will be handed over in October to the committee in charge of organising the 2019 AFC Asian Cup, which will be held in the UAE.
The Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum Stadium, a multi-use sport complex, is currently used mostly for football matches and serves as the home ground of Al Nasr SC.
Al Nasr Club executive director Mohammed Ali Al Ghathi unveiled plans to host a renowned football team for an inaugural friendly match at the new-look stadium.
In a statement to Al Bayan newspaper, he said that the renovated stadium would accommodate up to 15,000 football fans, up from 12,000 at present.
The stadium was built according to European standards and equipped with latest security, lighting and TV transmission technologies.
