ALBA-RED scored a 28-run victory over Alba-Blue in the opening match of the under-14 section of the Alba Club Invitation Cricket Tournament (10 overs each) at the Alba Club ground in Sanad.
Batted first, Alba-Red raced to 77runs for four wickets in their 10 overs with Anirudh Nair making an unbeaten 25.
In reply, Alba-Blue were restricted to 49 for the loss of six wickets. Ananth Krishnan claimed two wickets for two runs while only Krish Lokesh (10) could reach doubles figures. Anirudh was declared man-of-the-match.
In the second match, Youth Cricket Academy beat Colts Cricket Academy by eight wickets.
Batting first, Colts Cricket Academy made 49 for the loss of five wickets. Nadith Tennakoon top scored with 17 while Tejas picked a wicket for three runs.
In reply, Youth Cricket Academy reached the target in 6.1 overs. Tejas top scored with an unbeaten 21 of 17 balls and deservingly claimed the man-of-the-match award.
In under-12 section, Youth Cricket Academy beat Alba-Blue by 16 runs.
Batted first, Youth Cricket Academy made a reasonable 55 for the loss of six wickets. Openers Abhinav and Abhishek scored 16 runs each while Tirthankar picked two wickets for three runs.
In reply, Alba-Blue fell short of the target by 13 runs. Arnav top scored with 13 while Abhinav bagged three wickets for eight runs.
Performance
Abhinav Girish was declared man-of-the-match for his all-round performance.
In another match, Alba-Red beat Cric Bahrain Academy by 49 runs.
Alba-Red made a huge 101 for two wickets with Sai Sarthak blasting a 32-ball 46 with six fours while Madhav claimed a wicket. Sai Sarthak was declared man-of-the-match.
The tournament is being held in cooperation with Cricket Bahrain Association with a goal to promote cricket at the grass roots level in Bahrain.
The under-14 matches are played on Fridays and the under-12 on Saturdays.
The tournament was inaugurated by Prachur Shukla, development officer and tournament director.
The participating teams are Pakistan School, Bangladesh School, Alba Cricket Academy-Red, Cric Bahrain Academy, Colts Cricket Academy, Pakistan Urdu School, Youth Cricket Academy and Alba - Blue.
