ZACH Zane has signed to compete in Brave 13: Europe Evolution on June 9 at the SSE Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Zane, based in Wailuku, Hawaii, started training in mixed martial arts (MMA) at the age of four under the supervision of his grandfather. Apart from competing in MMA, Zane is also a professional surfer. This is for the first time a fighter with a background in professional surfing has signed with the Bahrain-based promotion.
“Surfing is similar to martial arts, it is about the skills to adapt. At no time the sea remains the same. So is the sport of MMA,” said Zane who takes on Declan Dalton from Belfast who has an impressive record of seven wins out of his 10 fights.
“Basically all those who I fight with end up becoming friends. I don’t have to hate people or talk thrash each time a fight is announced. However, when the cage door shuts, it is time for business and there will be no mercy,” added Zane.
