AMA International School Bahrain (AMAISB), along with the Philippines Embassy, commemorates the 120th Philippines declaration of independence from Spanish colonial rule.
This year’s celebration is themed ‘Kalayaan 2018: Pagbabagong Ipinaglaban, Alay sa Masaganang Kinabukasan’ (Freedom 2018: Change that was fought for an abundant future).
While it is true that raising and waving a flag and organising celebrations gives Filipinos pride on the day of independence, it is their courage, bravery and self-determination to fight for their right to independence and liberty that will always be remembered and honoured.
It opened more opportunities to Filipinos not only in the Philippines but also abroad.
Having started in the Philippines, AMA is one of those institutions that enjoyed the freedom brought by the declaration of independence when it expanded its roots to Bahrain to cater the educational needs of younger generations.
AMA International School Bahrain is in its 14th year of service to those residing in Bahrain and/or in the neighbouring Saudi Arabia.
On May 12, 2018, AMAISB added another huge milestone in the history of education in Bahrain when the Chairman and Ambassador Amable R. Aguiluz V with the patron Shaikh Khalifa bin Rashid Al Khalifa inaugurated the multi-purpose hall and the new building for middle and high school students, and broke ground for the Athena Private School for special needs, which will start accepting enrollees in 2019.
These milestones would not be possible without the courage, bravery, and self-determination of the Filipino people who died for the country’s liberation.
In celebration of the 120th Philippine Independence, AMAISB pays tribute to those who had fought for the country’s independence that brought changes to the country and the lives of the Filipinos in general.
