Greetings cables sent
His Majesty King Hamad sent a cable of congratulations to French President, Emmanuel Macron, on his country’s National Day. He wished President Macron abundant health and happiness, and the French people further progress and prosperity.
His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, sent similar cables to the French President.

Rescue hailed
HRH the Prime Minister sent a cable of congratulations to his Thai counterpart, General Prayut Chan-ocha, on the rescue of 12 boys and their football coach from a flooded cave this week.
He congratulated the Thai people and the families of the boys on the happy occasion.
Through the rescue operation, the Thai government has set an example in strength and outstanding ability to overcome challenges, earning the respect and acclaim of countries and peoples all over the world, he said.

Payout denied
The High Administrative Court has rejected a compensation claim filed by an employee for unfair dismissal. The plaintiff, who worked for a financial company for 11 years, was reportedly dismissed from work for misuse of position to gain personal benefits.
He also engaged in personal investments in another Gulf country without the company’s knowledge and misused the company’s e-mail in violation of the employment contract.
He filed a case seeking compensation for unfair dismissal and other benefits.
The court rejected the claim based on the testimony of two witnesses from the company. It said the contract termination was also justified as the plaintiff failed to honour his contractual obligations.
However, the court ordered the company to pay him BD29,000 representing end-of-service allowance, leave allowance and wage arrears, reports our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej.
Terror group rapped
Bahrain Human Rights Forum, operating from the southern suburb of Beirut under the umbrella and protection of Hizbollah, has praised Saraya Al Ashtar calling the group’s practices as human rights activity, Bahrain Human Rights Watch Society secretary general Faisal Fulad said.
“Hizbollah runs the forum, draws up its reports and supervises its work and activities,” he said.
The forum, led by Baqir Darweesh, a Bahraini fugitive, claimed that convicted members of the terrorist group are activists who have been arrested for expressing opinion, Mr Fulad added, reports our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej.
Anti-drugs drive highlighted
Bahrain’s Ambassador to the US Shaikh Abdulla bin Rashid Al Khalifa was a keynote speaker at the 31st DARE International Training Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, the US.
He stressed Bahrain’s pioneering steps in combating violence and addiction among youngsters within the framework of community partnership. He pointed out measures taken by the kingdom to raise awareness of the need to fight drug addiction, avoid violence and take the right decision.
Burial mounds candidate
Arts and Culture director general at Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities Shaikha Hala bint Mohammed Al Khalifa announced A’ali Burial Mounds as a candidate for inclusion on the Unesco World Heritage List.
The site nomination will be submitted during the 43rd session of Unesco World Heritage Committee to be held in Azerbaijan next year, she said.
“We expect A’ali Burial Mounds to be inscribed as Bahrain’s third Unesco World Heritage site besides the two archaeological and cultural sites, namely Bahrain Fort and Pearl Trail,” she told our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej.
Forum on migration
The Labour Market Regulatory Authority is organising a panel discussion on the sidelines of the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF 2018) on sustainable development.
Themed “Migration Governance in the GCC: Towards Inclusive, Safe and Resilient Societies”, the forum will be held in partnership with the Philippine government and in co-operation with the International Organisation for Migration and the Migrant Forum in Asia, on Monday at the UN headquarters in New York.
