A BAHRAINI gaming company is hoping to increase the country’s shares in the $100 billion global gaming industry.
Atyaf e-Sports, a Bahrain-based e-Sports organiser, took part in an annual gaming exhibition in Korea called Play Expo (PlayX4), where companies from around the world showcased their games and e-Sports gaming competitions were held.
During the event, Atyaf e-Sports signed an agreement with Monorama, a leading content developer and marketing agency for the gaming industry.
The deal will enable both companies to boost exchanges between Bahrain and Korea in the gaming sector, including exposing local talents to the world, creating job opportunities and increasing Bahrain’s gaming market share as South Korea accounts for 14.9 per cent of the global gaming market.
Many countries such as South Korea, the UK and Canada have proven that e-Sports gaming can be considered a full-time job that has contributed highly to their GDP.
“We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay, we were particularly impressed by the great infrastructure and facilities creatives and developers enjoy there. We really look forward to bringing more Korean games and culture to the Middle East,” said Atyaf e-Sport marketing manager Noof Abdulla.
“Bahrain has the potential to become the next e-Sports hub due to the support it gives to its talents and the large number of passionate gamers it attracts from Bahrain and the Mena region.”
The GDN reported last year that the industry had the potential to create as many as 5,000 to 6,000 jobs, not only for developers and programmers but also for musicians, accountants, advertisers, artists, writers, voice actors and other specialties required as part of the game development process.
