Deaths due to heart disease reached 703 in Bahrain last year, ranking Bahrain 64th in the world for heart disease-related deaths.
About 24 per cent of the deaths in Bahrain are due to coronary heart disease, according to a World Health Organisation report published in 2017. In India, about 1.5 million deaths per year are attributed to heart disease.
As much as it is alarming, there is enough means to alleviate, prevent and monitor heart health and improve life expectancy by following simple lifestyle changes and periodically monitoring the health of your heart and testing for specific cardiac risk markers.
Healthy Heart Check-up Campaign is a simple and affordable heart check-up package to be launched by the well-known Middle East Group of Hospital and Medical Centres today, marking independence from the risk of coronary heart disease.
The check-up is being offered at a special, highly-subsidised rate.
It is specifically designed to identify cardiac risk factors which are specific molecules in the blood which can give an indication of the risk of coronary heart disease.
The check-up includes blood tests for specific cardiac risk markers, ECG and doctor’s consultation and medical report.
Identifying the risk in the early stages – before clinical symptoms like shortness of breath on physical exertion, not able to climb stairs, chest tightness and more are apparent – is a smarter way to ensure your heart is healthy.
Once risks are identified, preventive actions can be taken through medical advice and appropriate medications and changes in lifestyle.
If tests show normalcy, it indicates your current heart health status is normal, though periodic check-ups are necessary.
A healthy lifestyle is the key regardless of your age, occupation or current health status.
Everyone wants to be healthy and live a long and healthy life without disease or ailments.
The check-up campaign will help motivate an individual in lifestyle modifications, and bring attention to the importance of a healthy heart and overall wellbeing.
With this noble objective and vision for a healthy Bahrain, Middle East Hospital has embarked on the special Healthy Heart Check-up campaign.
The check-up is available in all four branches of the Middle East Hospital Group: Middle East Hospital, Segaiya; Middle East Medical Centres in Hidd, Salmabad and the new MEM-BIW in the Bahrain Industrial Wharf, near BIIP and Salman Industrial City, generally known as Hidd Industrial Area.
The check-up is available from today until August 31, 9am to 9pm on all days including Fridays.
