BAHRAIN will be looking to stay in contention today in the men’s football tournament at the 18th Asian Games when they take on Kyrgyzstan at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium in the Indonesian city of Soreang, starting at 12noon Bahrain time.

It will be Bahrain’s second match in Group ‘E’ following their demoralising 0-6 thrashing at the hands of defending champions South Korea on Wednesday.

Bahrain need a victory to finish in the top two to enter the knock-out stage. They are currently at the bottom of the table.

South Korea take on Malaysian in the other Group ‘E’ match today.

Meanwhile, Bahrain’s senior men’s handball team will be looking to complete a clean sweep in Group ‘D’. They take on Chinese Taipei in Group ‘D’ at 4pm, Bahrain time, at Gor Popki Cibubur Stadium.

It will be their third and final fixture of the opening stage following impressive victories over Iraq and India.

Bahrain have already booked their ticket to the main round and will be looking to top the group today.

Elsewhere, Bahrain wrestler Adam Batirov arrived in Jakarta yesterday. His campaign begins on Sunday at the Jakarta Convention Centre Assembly Hall, following the highly anticipated official opening ceremony tomorrow. There will be no action tomorrow in any of the sports.
