Riyadh – Saudi Arabia has denied any plans to impose fees on expatriate workers’ remittances.
The Ministry of Finance issued a statement officially refuting media allegations circulated online.
The statement reiterated Saudi commitment to the free transfer of capital through official channels in compliance with best international practices so as to consolidate investors’ confidence in the national economy and financial system.
The statement which was posted on Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said that “the aim is to boost investor confidence in the economy and achieve further growth of the economy within the framework of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, so as to enhance the competitiveness of the economy and its attractiveness to foreign investments”.
The Finance ministry spokesman had denied in January 2017 a similar report alleging that fees would levied on expatriate workers’ remittances.
