MANAMA: Fourteen Iranians have been arrested after entering Bahrain with fake Asian passports and under false names.
The General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science director general revealed that the employers of the Iranians have been summoned following the arrests.
“As we received preliminary information in this regard, we started investigations and search, which led to the identification of the individuals and their arrest to later reveal they were Iranians with that country’s nationality,” he said.
“The men confessed to buying the Asian nationalities to enter Bahrain with the help of Bahrainis of Iranian origin.
“Legal formalities have been completed and the men have been referred to the Public Prosecution.
“We hope that employers check the identity of those working with them and if any suspicion arises they can report them to the nearest police station or call the hotline 999.”
