Muscat – A decision to restrict twelve professions in the private sector to Saudi nationals will officially take effect tomorrow (September 11).
The Saudisation scheme will first be implemented in the retail shops selling cars and motorbikes, ready-made clothes, children’s clothes and men’s clothing; domestic furniture and household utensils.
The Ministry of Labour and Social Development said that the move would create jobs for Saudi nations and increase their participation in the private sector labour force.
The Saudisation plan will be expanded on the 8th of November, 2018, to cover the shops selling watches, optical glasses, electronic and electrical appliances.
On the 7th of January 2019, the Saudisation programme will be enforced to include shops selling medical equipment, construction material, car spare parts, and carpets.
