MANAMA: Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa yesterday announced the formation of a high elections committee for the November 24 parliament elections.
He issued four edicts naming committee members, the four main supervision centres and their heads, along with supporting members and substitutes, and the polling centres.
Forty polling stations have been designated across the country.
Twelve of them will be located in the Northern Governorate, 10 each in the Capital and Southern governorates, and eight in the Muharraq Governorate.
However, the general polling stations have not been named yet, but 10 facilities are expected to open based on previous elections.
The committee is chaired by Shaikh Khalid and comprises Judge Abdulrahman Al Sayed, Judge Masooma Isa, Judge Khalid Ajaji, Judge Mohammed Al Buainain, Chancellor Wael Buallay, Chancellor Osama Al Oufi and Judge Mohammed Saeed Al Aradi.
The committee will be responsible for overseeing the elections, including monitoring the work done by teams assigned to monitor the elections in Bahrain’s four governorates, while also receiving complaints and grievances besides taking decisions on voter and candidacy objections.
“The High Elections Committee will be responsible for the proper election of MPs in all aspects related to voters’ lists and voting, candidacy and nominations, besides grievances and objections,” said Shaikh Khalid in a statement.
