A muezzin who allegedly murdered a Bahraini imam will be sent to the Psychiatric Hospital for a mental evaluation.
The 39-year-old Bangladeshi brutally beat Shaikh Abduljalil Hmood with a metal rod and then plunged a knife into his stomach.
It happened after morning prayers on August 4 at the Bin Shiddah Mosque, in Muharraq, where they both worked.
The defendant then used a butcher’s knife to dismember the dead imam’s body and tried to dispose off the remains at a scrapyard in Askar in two barrels the following day.
Judges today accepted a defence request to send the defendant to the Psychiatric Hospital to undergo a mental examination.
