Kuwait City – The police units will have their personnel’s uniforms fitted with cutting-edge surveillance body cameras (minicams).
Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Khalid Al-Jarrah Al-Jarrah said that the plan would be implemented soon.
“The new hi-tech devices will monitor the way patrols deal with the public in performing their duties”, he said, in reply to a query submitted by MP Ahmed Al-Fadhl.
Several countries in the world have already incorporated the state-of-the-art cameras, which can be fixed upon the collar or belts of the uniforms.
The minicams are equipped with features like live streaming of visuals, a touchscreen monitor for changing the settings and for sending messages and photos, infrared facility for night vision, 4th generation SIM-controlled system, 8 hours of battery backup and 32 GB inbound memory. They can additionally be used as wireless sets for internal communication.
