His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa received a cable of thanks from Iraqi President Barham Saleh in reply to a cable of congratulations on his election.
He also received a cable of thanks from Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and UAE Armed Forces Deputy Supreme Commander Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in reply to a cable of congratulations on the successful launch of KhalifaSat.
Boycott calls link to Iran
Manama: Malicious calls to boycott polls were made by social media accounts managed from outside Bahrain – particularly from Iran, Iraq and Lebanon, it has emerged. The findings were part of ongoing monitoring to ensure the security of the elections on November 24. Director General of Anti-corruption and Economic and Electronic Security called upon citizens to seek information from reliable sources and avoid posts on social media that focus on promoting sedition and misleading data.
Three candidates withdraw from polls
Manama: Three candidates have submitted applications for withdrawal of their nominations from parliamentary polls. Deadline for withdrawal from parliamentary and municipal elections ended last night, said Legislation and Legal Opinion Commission president and Elections 2018 executive director Chancellor Nawaf Hamza. The supervisory centres received three withdrawal applications – from Abdulla Isa Yaqub Abdulrahman Abdulla (Southern Governorate’s constituency six), Lamia Jassim Radhi Ahmed Ma’atouq (Northern Governorate’s constituency six) and Abdulla Mostafa Abdulla Janahi (Capital Governorate’s constituency one). No municipal candidates applied for withdrawal of their nominations, he said.
