BAHRAINI drivers Hussain Hasan and Mohammed Mattar claimed a fantastic one-two in their class yesterday in the third round of the UAE X30 Challenge.

The meeting is a part of the IAME Series UAE Championship and it took place at RAK Track in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.

Hasan and Hussain are competing in the X30 Shifter category, where participants aged 16 and above race in karts fitted with identical IAME X30 Shifter 125cc engines.

Mattar topped the qualifying timesheet with Hasan third.

Mattar continued his fine form and won heat one as well as the pre-final. However, an unfortunate accident at the start of the final dropped him to seventh position.

But he fought back and finished second overall.

Hasan, on the other hand, had an impressive drive and won the final.

He had earlier finished third in heat one and fifth in pre-final.

Mattar added to his runner-up finish by posting the final’s fastest lap of 49.2 seconds.

Both Hasan and Mattar race with Absolute Racing Team from Bahrain and are competing in the Bahrain Rotax Mojo Max Challenge along with the X30 Challenge in the UAE.

The 2018-2019 IAME Series UAE Championship has six rounds, with races at RAK Track, Dubai Kartdrome, Al Forsan and Yas Marina circuits.

In addition to the championship, IAME-powered X30 racers also compete in the annual Dubai O-Plate race.

The top three finishers in each championship category of the IAME Series UAE win entry to the IAME International Final to be held at Le Mans in France.
