Abu Dhabi: The Court of Cassation upheld the death penalty which was handed down to the killer of Pakistani child Azan Majid Janjua.
The death verdict has been submitted to the UAE President Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan for approval, reported Al Khaleej.
The Pakistani convict, who is in his late 20s, was found guilty of raping the 11-year-old boy and murdering him brutally.
The court overruled a previous ruling which ordered the convict to pay blood money.
An investigation had revealed that the convict sexually abused Azan before strangling him to death using a rope on the rooftop of the building where he lived with his family.
The body of the child was found by an AC technician, who went to the building’s rooftop to check a malfunctioning chiller.
