Riyadh: A patient died after contracting the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-coronavirus (MERS-CoV) in the Saudi region of Wadi Al Dawaser, Almowaten reported.
The 30-year-old man was one of 24 people who were diagnosed with the infectious disease in one week across the kingdom.
The Ministry of Health said seven new cases were discovered two days ago (Friday) in different regions of the country.
Wadi Al Dawaser is the most affected with 19 cases of the virus discovered so far.
According to a ministry’s report for the period running from February 2 to 9, 17 patients are under treatment at different hospitals and six others have been quarantined.
