Southern Police announced the arrest of a Bahraini, 34, suspected of stealing gas cylinders from homes. He has a criminal record of drug abuse and thefts. The suspect has been referred to the Public Prosecution, the Interior Ministry tweeted last night.
Resident returns
A long-term resident is returning home to India after 42 years. Ashok Shetty and wife Vandana, owners of Creative Advertising and Promotion Company, are going back to Mumbai. The couple has two children – daughter Yogna is working in New York while son Abhishek is a research associate in Mumbai. Mr Shetty has been an active social worker for various clubs in Bahrain and was involved in several charitable initiatives.
Honour for minister
MANAMA: The GCC Secretariat General has granted Education Minister Dr Majid Al Nuaimi, the Boy Scouts of Bahrain President, the GCC Medal-First Class, for his pioneering role and outstanding achievements.
Family fun day
MANAMA: The Budaiya Pre-School is organising its annual Family Fun Day on Saturday. Activities will include a bouncing castle, pony rides, face-painting, live music, a photo booth, fun games, children’s craft and a raffle, among others. There will also be live musical performances and a Victoria Dance team will perform a ballet. Mad Science Bahrain will present an interactive educational science show. Proceeds from the event will be used to support special school projects and Sneha centre for special needs children. Entrance is free to the event which will run from 10am to 2pm.
