The Premier yesterday praised strong relations between Bahrain and Thailand, stressing the governments’ keenness to bolster it, mainly in the economic, commercial, investment and diplomatic fields.
His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa was speaking as he received Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai and his accompanying delegation. He hailed the visit, stressing the need for continuous co-operation and co-ordination between both countries.
He said Bahrain’s friendship with Thailand was a model to emulate. The Premier and the Thai Foreign Minister reviewed bilateral ties and ways of cementing them at all levels. They also discussed issues of common concern.
The Prime Minister lauded the role of the Thai community in the kingdom’s development, stressing the care given to it by the Bahraini government.
He also praised landmark development in Thailand, underlining the country’s active role in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and at the international level.
The Thai Foreign Minister expressed his country’s respect for the Premier’s efforts to further bolster relations, conveying to him greetings of the Thai Prime Minister.
The Premier held a lunch banquet in honour of the Thai Foreign Minister and his accompanying delegation, which was attended by members of the Royal Family, parliament speaker, Shura Council chairman, Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairman and senior officials.
Meanwhile, the Premier received a telephone call from his Thai counterpart General Prayut Chan-o-cha. They reviewed the progress of Bahraini- Thai relations and the mechanisms to enhance co-operation and co-ordination in various fields.
The Prime Minister expressed pride in the Thai government’s keenness to bolster co-operation at all levels to serve the two countries’ common interests.
