Hussain Ayyad made Bahrain proud by outclassing Filipino Jason Vergara in the Brave 22: Storm of Warriors held at the iconic Mall of Asia in Manila.
Ayyad put on a dominant show as he was able to quickly tap out his opponent with a slick triangle choke to claim victory by submission in the first round and retain his flyweight title.
It was the second win in a row for the KHK MMA product, who is climbing up the flyweight rankings at a steady pace.
He had beaten Mohamed Abo Ali back in November of last year, at Brave 18. This time around, however, he was fighting against the crowd. Ayyad did not let Vergara’s fans faze him, as he dominated him the entire fight.
The lone representative of the Kingdom showcased once again the improvements made in the KHK MMA headquarters. He proved to be well-rounded since his last win was by technical knockout and he has now finished off an opponent once again by submission.
In the main event, bantamweight champion Stephen Loman retained his title with a technical knockout victory over challenger Elias Boudegzdame.
With the win, Loman stayed perfect under the promotion’s banner, improving to 5-0, and three title defenses to his name.
Filipino Ambassador Alfonso Ver, who was instrumental in bringing Brave to Manila, was in attendance to watch the bout.
It was the first time Brave Combat Federation was staging the event in the Philippines and it was, indeed, a night to remember.
Local warriors shone on the brightest stage in combat sports, in front of the loudest fans and the biggest celebrities and influencers in the Philippines. bein
Also in attendance was sportsman Vincent “Chot” Reyes who is president of Brave’s TV partner in the country, TV5.
Brave president Mohammed Shahid hailed the Filipino crowd as “one of the best Brave fanbases ever” and praised the Filipino media for their work in covering the largest MMA event to have ever been held in the country.
The promotion will next stage Brave 23 in Amman, Jordan on April 19 where three titles are at stake.
