IT systems at a Bahrain military hospital remained down yesterday, four days after they crashed on Wednesday.
The BDF Hospital’s administrative systems, including patient admission platform, and its website were still offline.
As a result, staff have been entering information manually, while the hospital has cancelled all appointments.
The GDN reported on Friday that authorities were investigating the incident.
“The systems are still down and we are still working manually,” a source told the GDN yesterday.
“All appointments have been cancelled and the IT department is working on it.”
The GDN also reported on Friday that the King Hamad University Hospital (KHUH), a government hospital managed by the BDF, was taking measures to protect its network.
An internal email sent to KHUH staff, labelled “urgent and critical”, warned of a cyber attack on the national government data network using viruses and ransomware.
It said organisations connected to the network were under “very heavy and serious cyber attacks” that could lead to a serious breach of information, loss of business continuity, systems shutdowns and outages, malicious damage or exposure of critical citizen and expat information.
BDF Hospital and KHUH officials did not comment when contacted by the GDN.
