A WOMAN who walked naked down a Bahrain highway in broad daylight has pleaded with judges to forgive her.
The 32-year-old Italian woman was found guilty of using drugs, public indecency and assaulting and insulting police who arrested her by the High Criminal Court last month.
She was jailed for two years and fined BD1,000, while her Bahraini boyfriend was jailed for 12 months for using drugs.
Both have lodged appeals at the Supreme Criminal Appeals Court, where the Italian woman yesterday apologised to judges and pleaded for forgiveness.
“I am sorry and I want you to forgive me,” she said through a court-appointed translator.
“I request to be pardoned.”
The woman was arrested after she walked naked through traffic on Shaikh Salman Highway, near Salmabad, in November.
Videos and pictures of the incident, taken by passing motorists, immediately went viral.
The appeal was yesterday adjourned until April 29.
