HEALTH authorities have stepped in following an appeal to help Bahraini actress Sabrin Burshaid, who is suffering from three tumours in the head.
Her father Ahmed Burshaid made the appeal on his Instagram account yesterday.
He said she was currently receiving treatment at the BDF Hospital, but needed urgent surgery that was available abroad.
“My daughter is in danger and is suffering from three tumours in the head,” he said.
“I call on His Majesty King Hamad to order for her to receive medical help.
“She needs immediate surgery.”
In response, the Health Ministry said in a statement last night that procedures were being taken to transfer Ms Burshaid abroad for further treatment.
“The ministry is working closely with His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa’s Office to complete the transfer process after following up on the case with her doctor,” it said.
“The treatment committee has contacted the patient’s father, who sent out the appeal for treatment abroad.
“He was instructed to come to the committee headquarters on Wednesday to start travel procedures.
“Her case requires urgent treatment, therefore the available options for treatment were evaluated with no visa delays as her condition requires swift intervention to avoid complications.”
Health Minister Faeqa Al Saleh also expressed her gratitude for the Premier’s continuous support in following up on cases involving Bahraini citizens, especially in the health sector. People on social media, including Ms Burshaid’s one million followers on her Instagram account @sabrinburshaid, shared their concern and sympathy for the actress.
Ms Burshaid works in Kuwait as a presenter on ATV channel and has been cast in a TV series that will be aired during Ramadan.
