AL Hala shocked leaders Riffa 2-1 while Al Hidd scored an injury time goal to beat Budaiya 2-1 last night in the 16th week of Nasser bin Hamad Football Premier League at Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Isa Town.
It was the most stunning result for the leaders and King Cup champions Riffa as they were beaten by bottom-placed team Al Hala.
The victory helped Al Hala to move up to 15 points from 16 matches while Riffa remain on top of the table with 31 points from 15 matches.
The result also opened space at the top of the table for teams in the middle.
Al Hala scored first through Mahmood Al Haiki in the eighth minute while Riffa equalised in the 14th through Daeo.
Mubarak Salim emerged as the hero of the day as he netted the match-winning goal for Al Hala in the 69th minute.
Al Hala could have made it 3-1 in the 86th minute but striker Abdulla Janahi failed to beat Riffa goalkeeper Abdulkarim Al Fardan in an one-on-one situation.
In the second match, Al Hidd hit back from a goal down to a 2-1 victory over Budaiya.
Al Hidd are on 25 points while Budaiya remain on 15.
Budaiya went ahead through a penalty goal from Breito.
Al Hidd equalised in the 61st through Sayed Mohammed Adnan before his teammate Ahmed Merza scored the winning goal in injury time.
