Al Najma lost to Kuwait Club of Kuwait 1-2 in a group ‘B’ second-leg match of the AFC Asian Clubs Cup Championship at Kuwait Club Stadium in Kuwait City last night.
Kuwait Club led the first half 1-0 with Y. Al Tararwa scoring in the 45th minute. They went on to make it 2-0 in the 61st minute through Jumaa Saeed. Al Najma’s D. Drame reduced the margin in the 66th minute.
In another match of same group, Al Jazira of Jordan defeated Ettihad of Syria 2-0 at Halab International Stadium in Syria.
Both goals came in the first half with Feras Shelbaya scoring in the 13th minute and N. Al Rawabdeh in the 43rd.
The victory has kept Al Jazira on top of the group with 10 points, followed by Kuwait Club who have seven points. Al Najma are in third place with four points while Ettihad are fourth with one point.
Malkiya will take on Qadisiya of Kuwait in a Group ‘C’ second-leg match at Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Isa Town. The match kicks off at 7pm.
Malkiya had defeated the Kuwaiti side 2-1 in the first-leg clash.
Malkiya lead the group with seven points, followed by Al Ahad of Lebanon with five points. Qadisiya are in third place with four points while Al Suwaiq of Oman are fourth with no points so far.
