A MYSTICAL drama on how families react to the death of loved ones is being shot in Bahrain.
Death of So and So is being filmed in the Juffair and Adliya areas by Bahrain-based director Ramgopal Menon and is being produced under the banner of Nattukoottam, which includes three short films highlighting stories about the people of Bahrain, all of which have been shot locally.
The story draws attention to death in an upper middle class society, explained Mr Menon, who said he was inspired by the passing of some of his close relatives and acquaintances.
The short film is being produced jointly with Steel Mark Middle East and will be screened at the annual Kochi Metro International Short Film Festival held in Kerala, India and will be showcased at the Dubai International Film Festival.
The project commenced with the lighting of a traditional lamp at the Juffair Gate Hotel last month, where veteran South Indian actor and director Raveendran was the chief guest.
The film is expected to be completed by mid-May.
Mr Menon’s last venture was titled Mindscape, which discussed the alarming rate of suicides within the expatriate communities in Bahrain, and was screened at Cineco Oasis Mall in Juffair.
Mr Menon, who also works as information technology general manager at E K Kanoo, won the best short film award at the ICRF Short Film Festival last year for his work.
