Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) first deputy chairman, Bahrain Olympic Committee president, West Asian Athletics Federation president and Bahrain Athletics Association president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa congratulated His Majesty King Hamad, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, and His Majesty’s representative for Charity Work and Youth Affairs and SCYS chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa on the remarkable achievement of Bahrain’s athletes at the 23rd Asian Athletics Championship in Doha wherethey won 22 medals – 11 gold, seven silver and four bronze.
Shaikh Khalid said that the achievement was a result of the support of the Wise Leadership to the youth and sports sector. He expressed pride in the national team’s victory, surpassing strong competitors, such as China and India, and proving the kingdom’s capability to take leading positions in sports and other fields.
Shaikh Khalid said: “Bahrain’s athletes have once again proved to be great achievers and showed remarkable presence on the continental level during the championship, thanks to their determination.
“This new Asian achievement confirms that the kingdom generates stars and champions in athletics, thanks to the efforts of the Bahrain Athletics Association in sponsoring and supporting the runners and refining their talents. This achievement confirms that Bahraini athletes are always at the forefront.”
