AL Saqr Alabyadh sailed past Al Zaeem 3-0 and Team Winning routed Al Nawayef 4-0 to set up a semi-final clash in the Nasser bin Hamad Ramadan Tournament - Nasser 12 at Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Isa town.
The semi-finals are set for tomorrow with Victorious clashing with Batelco Gunners United at 9pm and Al Saqr taking on Team Winning at 11.15pm.
Victorious are the favourites to win the first semi-final as they are a very experienced side and have already won this tournament three times in the past.
Equipped
Batelco Gunners United have won the tournament once and they were last year’s runners-up. Both teams are equipped with star players, notably Batelco who added to their ranks Nasser Premier League’s top scorer Mamado Drami of Senegal.
Meanwhile, the High Organising Committee of Nasser 12 held a meeting under the chairmanship of its president Tawfiq Al Salehi to review the arrangements being made for hosting the final game of the football tournament and supporting activities.
Present at the meeting were president of Nasser 12 Ali Al Majed, president of media committee Mazen Anwar Al Hammadi, head of the organisers Shakri Al Qallaf, general coordinator of the tournament Mohammed Touq and representative of Bahrain TV Hazem Al Shaikh.
Al Salehi hailed the committee members’ efforts in making the tournament a success and thanked Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty for Charity Works and Youth Affairs and president of Supreme Council of Youth and Sports, for his continuous support and encouragement.
The draw for the Football Academies Tournament was also conducted on Friday. The event will take place on Tuesday with six teams in the fray - Tickers Academy, Ole Academy and Juventus Academy (Group 1) and Champions Academy, Track Academy and Winners Academy (Group 2).
The final is scheduled for Wednesday.
